The Results Are In!

Michelle Hohmeier, a Constitution Party member and Chapter leader for the party ran a close race for a City Council position in Arnold, Missouri. Michelle lost her race by twenty votes. We are very proud of her and our other local candidate, Jenn Jamieson. Jenn lives in Concordia and ran for Alderman. She also heads up the party for Lafayette County.

Michelle commented on her loss,

“Although we lost this time, I will continue to fight for liberty! Knowing only some 550 people turned out to vote has made me see the next fight before running again in two years.

People need to be educated in the importance of voting and local government. Until we secure our towns, our counties and our states, we will never secure our country!

Michelle’s commitment to liberty is obvious as she is already addressing the battle she faces in her next campaign. Michelle is also right when she identifies low voter turnout as a problem, but that is a problem that can be fixed. When people like Michelle and Jenn get involved in local politics, it gives the people of the community hope that someone outside of the “good ole boys of local politics” might get elected and end business as usual at city hall. Michelle lost by only twenty votes, and we believe, she’ll have those votes and more the next time she runs.

Jenn Jamieson also expressed concern over low voter turnout, but was excited that she received more votes than she expected. Like Michelle, Jenn is planning for her next run. She believes that local problems are best solved by local government, and will be seeking a position on the Planning and Zoning Committee to better prepare herself for her next campaign.

Both of these ladies exhibit the spirit and fortitude necessary to succeed, and we anticipate ballot box victories for both of them.

Looking Ahead

Although the votes are just barely tallied for the 2011 elections, the 2012 election cycle is fast approaching, and now is the time to get involved. Disenchantment with both parties continues to grow, and far too many Americans are still unaware of the only party that has the will to govern according to the Constitution.

Americans need to know there is an option to the destructive policies of both major parties, and that option is the Constitution Party. However, they can’t vote for us, unless they know about us and understand what makes us different than the other parties.

I am asking you for a commitment of membership, finances and perhaps the most important commitment of all, your time. We need leaders and workers to build the county organizations that are foundational to the growth of the party and election of candidates. If Michelle and Jenn had had well-organized county committees to support their individual efforts, they may be holding elected offices today. Let’s make sure that they and other 2012 candidates have the support they need.
