Government Help is NOT the Answer
Hope does not come through government,
but through the hand of God
as He moves through the courage, sacrifice and kindness of people.
Please take a few minutes to read the following first person account by an on duty emergency room doctor in Joplin, the day the tornado stuck Joplin.

While this is just a glimpse through the eyes of one man, we know this scene was repeated over and over again in every area of Joplin. People responding to people in need, first, with the people of Joplin, then neighboring communities near and far came with supplies and volunteers. I do not say this to diminish the role of our police, fireman, and EMT personnel, who are always there for us, but it becomes obvious, quite quickly that no emergency response teams could ever handle devastation of this magnitude. It takes an army of friends, neighbors, and volunteers to pick up the pieces and move on in life. What we see happening in Joplin reaffirms that the people of this nation know how to help one another, and that they do respond in droves.
What we don’t need is an army of government bureaucrats to descend a week later with our healer-in-chief, as one Yahoo News articles identified Mr. Obama, to bring healing to this community. Some might say we need the federal money, that no community could recover without it. I disagree! Already, major corporations like Wal-Mart and Home Depot, who both lost stores in the destruction, have donated a million dollars each. Target, Dillon’s and other major corporations are joining a growing list of businesses responding to the need. Churches, charities, and private individuals have been there since day one, and will continue until the needs are met. That is the true spirit of America that has brought us through wars and tragedies of the past, and will continue to do so now.
We don’t need or want your help.
We know how to do what we do best,
help ourselves and one another.
